Stories that Move. Toolbox against discrimination.
Workshop by Karen Polak, Anne Frank House, Amsterdam.
The online toolbox Stories that Move challenges learners to discuss diversity and discrimination, to reflect on their own choices by getting to know the personal stories of their peers, and to become active.
Using the methods and content of Stories that Move this session will focus on the pedagogical approaches behind this project, that aim to encourage empathy and raise awareness of prejudice.
The stories used in the toolbox amplify the voices of young people, which makes it relatable, and at the same time makes it clear that racism, antisemitism and other types of discrimination are very much a contemporary issue. Using the blended learning and visible thinking methods that are used in the toolbox, we will experience and discuss how these can support educators in creating an open and safe learning environment.
The workshop will be held in English and it is open to all university members (students and staff). Participation is free of charge.
In order to estimate the number of participants, we kindly ask you to register by December 10.
In preparation of this session, please also go to www.storiesthatmove.org to make an educators account (find the button 'Go to online toolbox'). There are no costs involved. You can add the name of an institution/school but do not need to.
