Register now: International Summer School "Education in a Digital World"

Announcement, 30 March 2026

Register now for the International Summer School at PHKA, taking place from 28 June to 3 July 2026!

Digitalisation is fundamentally changing the way we teach and learn. It offers a wide range of opportunities to make learning content more adaptable, engaging, and accessible. However, digitalization—and new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) in particular—also present new challenges, especially with regard to ethical issues and sustainability. The spread of fake news and hate speech online is also on the rise, raising questions about how society and education should address these issues. Furthermore, the use of digital platforms is increasingly linked to well-being and mental health, particularly among young people. From a global perspective, unequal access to information and communication technologies raises questions of global justice and participation.

Our Summer School addresses these topics and brings together students and faculty from Germany, Ghana, Israel, Cameroon, Laos, Northern Ireland, and the US to discuss current issues surrounding digitalisation:

  • Didactic design of digitally supported learning formats
  • Role of AI in and for educational processes
  • Ethical questions in relation to digitalisation and AI
  • Global Justice, Sustainability and Digitalisation
  • Combating fake news and online hate

What to expect:

  • Lectures and talks with international experts
  • Practical workshops to strengthen digital teaching skills
  • Discussion sessions in small seminar groups
  • Cultural programme including an excursion, welcome dinner, digital scavenger hunt and farewell event

Target audience:
Student teachers from all disciplines with an interest in education, digitalisation, global justice or intercultural exchange. No prior knowledge is required – just curiosity and a willingness to engage!
