Field of study: Bilingual Teaching and Learning (BLL)
The Bilingual Teaching and Learning (BLL) programme builds bridges between students’ expertise in their chosen subject and their foreign language. Academic theories on multilingualism, cultural diversity and forms of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) are complemented by didactic and methodological concepts for BLL/CLIL, as well as the implementation of specific teaching projects for students’ own bilingual subject.
The degree programme with the ‘Teaching in Europe’ specialisation comprises four modules in Bilingual Teaching and Learning/CLIL:
- Cultural Diversity and the Fundamentals of BLL/CLIL
- Methodology and Didactics of Bilingual Teaching and Learning: Harnessing Synergies
- Subject Knowledge and Didactics for BLL/CLIL
- Theory and Empirical Research on Bilingual Teaching and Learning/CLIL
The EULA Project – a milestone in the degree programme
As part of the BLL/CLIL module assessment in the Bachelor’s programme, EULA students undertake a project during their stay abroad. The individual project topics reflect the students’ connection to the host country, as well as their personal interests and experiences. Furthermore, students contribute their subject-specific expertise, self-organisation skills and research methodology competencies.
