„Practicing Support Structures“ mit Künstlerin Pernilla Manjula Philip – 25.06.2025, 10:00 - 14:00 Uhr
What holds us up, and what holds us together? What quiet infrastructures shape the conditions of care, connection, and survival? This workshop explores support through the lens of disability justice—looking at the structures that sustain, exclude, or quietly shape how we move through the world. From physical supports like walls, chairs, and ramps, to social ones like mutual aid, legal protections, and informal networks, we will ask: what are the conditions these structures create, and who gets to rely on them? Why are some needs normalized to the point of going unrecognized, while others are marked as excessive, burdensome, or special. These myths shape who is expected to adjust, and who is quietly supported without question. Through sketching, writing, and conversation—we’ll map what support can look like, and explore how we might build structures that make support intentional, visible, and shared.
Pernilla Manjula Philip explores questions around chronic illness in relation to the medical industry. Her work, rooted in lived experience, serves as a testbed for exploring vulnerabilities and strengths of the shared resilience of do-it-yourself (DIY) and open-source approaches to medical management. She aims to raise questions about who gets to shape medical knowledge, and the diverse perspectives on safety.
